-Tell me about yourself
I am Diyor, a student of the Faculty of Media and Governance at Graduate school at SFC.It is my first year of at Graduate School. I am from Uzbekistan and I studied my bachelor degree at Keo University SFC. I am a member of Kokuryo Lab, and working on Foreign Direct Investment in Japan and Uzbekistan project.
-What is “Foreign Direct Investment in Japan and Uzbekistan project”?
Yeah, FDI topic is huge and I have been working on it since 2015 and I made a website for my project.
And I have published an article on Japan Spotlight magazine founded by Japan Economic Foundation (JEF) about Risk management system in Japan and Uzbekistan in terms of attracting FDI.
I am from Uzbekistan, and Uzbekistan is a land-locked country in Central Asia. And Since I came to Japan, I have experienced so many new things, challenges on IT.
I really like Japanese IT infrastructure and I really wanted to bring some IT companies in Uzbekistan through attracting FDI in Japan and Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is a rich country in terms of exporting natural resources, foods and other products. And I know that, in Uzbekistan IT companies are not going well, because lack of language barer with Japan. Because the most old people they do not speak English language, they speak Uzbek and Russian, it means they do not know about Japan very well and in contrast, the most Japanese businessmen can not speak Russian when they meet and talk for doing a business between two countries.
Lack of Information about Uzbekistan is also a key point for the investors in Japan, this is why I am doing this project and want to contribute for two counties’ economy and friendship in the future.
I did a research in both countries in last year, because I got some fund from MEXT and did 24 interviews and presentations in companies, organizations and banks. such as JETRO Tokyo and JETRO Tashkent, PwC Tashkent, JEF, Hewlett-Packard (HP) Tokyo, Uzdong-ju and some banks in Uzbekistan in terms of how they attract FDI and how they measure a risk when foreign company wants to come in the region.
-Why did you apply for Mentor-Mitakai Scholarship?
Mentor Mitakai Scholarship is incredibly consequential for me in order to perpetuate my potential education at Keio University SFC. Since this scholarship is solely financial support and financial source for my tuition fee. I could able plenarily to concentrate on my studies and research projects at SFC. And that highly incentivized me to study hard in order to achieve outstanding academic grades and put all my efforts on my research projects and gave me a chance to accomplish. I was able to fully concentrate on my studies and research projects at SFC. And that highly motivates me to study hard in order to achieve outstanding academic grades and put all my efforts on my research projects.
-Could you tell me the message to high school students?
I would like to say to my younger friends that, try to think more specific things which you can do and work on. When you join the Keio University, you will able to learn so many new things and challenges. While learning and challenging something new you will able to work on more concrete and exact research project. The most important thing is that, try to work on some research project that should be useful for the society and improve people’s lives, then you will feel that you can contribute and help to the society with your core knowledge and creative thinking.
-Thank you very much!
